Many ODROID-XU4 users found the noise of its cooling fan irritating and frustrating at times. Though, it is a smart fan that only rotates when the computing load is high but still its noise is something that forced Hardkernel to come up with a solution. Responding to the feedback from its customers, the company introduced ODROID-XU4Q which features a taller heatsink. The replacement of fan with the heatsink means that XU4 is Quiet and that is why they named is XU4Q. The hardware specs of XU4 and XU4Q are identical.
